Best Dressed of Golden Globes 2016

I have a confession to make. When any awards show or event is aired on television, I only watch the red carpet before it. I love watching all the celebrities come in with their glamorous outfits. Plus, I'm more entertained watching that than all the cheesy lines and annoying commercial breaks during the actual event. I figured I would share some of my favorite looks from the red carpet, so let's get to it!

1. Zendaya

I have to say it, SLAY! She always knows how to rock anything, especially this maroon lace dress. The floral lace detail is beautiful and the color is perfect against her skin tone. I love the deep V-neck line and the three ruffles make the dress pop. The waist band helps accentuate her figure, so that she is not lost in the dress. Her earrings add a little bling without stealing the show away from the dress. There is also some bling on her black clutch, which goes great because of the hints of black behind the lace.

2. Jenna Dewan-Tatum

Let's be real she is always gorgeous and her performance on Lip Sync Battle was the best thing I have ever seen. For the Golden Globes she went for a classy glam look with this gorgeous Zuhair Murad Couture gown. The pattern of the sequins is just exquisite and they go great with the navy blue color of the dress. The details of the dress really shine through! We also have another deep V-neck line that looks stunning on her. Her hair is up and really gives the whole look a fancy feel. It also keeps her hair from covering the details of the dress. Of course, she can't forget about her satin navy blue clutch to match the dress.

3. Amy Adams

This tangerine color is so bright and can't always be pulled off. Adams killed it with this simple, yet elegant Versace gown. I love how the top is cut like a halter top to show off her arms. The sequined waistband that falls all the way down the side of the gown really gives it that extra glow. The placement of the sequins also adds a slimming effect to the fitted gown. She kept the jewelry simple, to keep the focus on the gorgeous dress. To top it off, her hair is in loose curls and parted down the center.

There were many others who looked great, but these were my favorite looks on the red carpet. Let me know who you thought was the best dressed at the Golden Globes!

Fur Please

I have fallen in love with the faux fur vest trend this season, and I'm going to take full advantage of it before it starts warming up. Contrary to what you would think, this thing can keep a girl warm. It's also a lot more versatile than I thought. Today I paired it with my cream knit sweater, and yes I wore it again. It is the perfect sweater after all. I loved how cozy it felt and the sweater was dark enough for the white fur to shine through. To top of the look, I had to add my maroon floppy hat I got from Japan! I felt like a happy mob wife and let's face it, don't we all want to be as glamorous as they are? Last but not least, a pair of riding boots could never go wrong. This pair by Liz Claiborne is the perfect shade of brown to compliment the cream color of my sweater. This is probably one of my favorite winter outfits and I was a little hesitant to walk out of the house at first. Although, I reminded myself I put this outfit together for a reason and it seemed others around San Antonio liked it too!

Alma's Approach: I have been digging lipsticks lately and the berry color I am wearing goes perfectly with my hat! Sometimes it's okay to go daring with one feature on the face with a daring outfit, as long as it correlates to the outfit.

I can't believe 2016 is here already! It feels like 2015 just flew by especially since I am getting ready to finish my last semester of college ever. I have learned so much in the past year from my position as Panhellenic president, from my amazing adviser, from my loving friends and family. This year, as all years will, has had its tough times and I have gotten through them. That will never change and I can only grow stronger from them. But before I get episodic, I would like to share my big takeaway from 2015. This year has definitely been the year of friendship. I never realized how many special people I have in my life and I truly have grown such an appreciation for them. Growing up I never had a sense of home because I always thought it was about the location. Home is never about where you are, it's about who you decide to surround yourself with. I think I have surrounded myself with some pretty amazing people. I just want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done for me. I cannot wait to spend another year with you all.

Now onto the resolutions! I decided to focus on a couple and make them attainable. Here we go!

1. Maintain my blog! I love blogging and now that I have a lot more free time on my hands that is what I will be focusing on. Fashion is what I love and I want to make a career out of it.

2. Start my YouTube channel back up! I've realized after researching for months that I need to put myself and my skills out there on all my platforms. Having videos along with my blog posts adds that triple threat of writing, photos and videos.

3. With my new found free time, I would like to spend more time with my friends. I didn't really get to hang out with them as often as I wanted to this past year, so I better get a move on.

Alma's Approach: Whatever your resolutions are or if you don't have any, have a wonderful new year. Make the best of it and appreciate every bit of it.
