OOTD: It's All About the Denim

I have been looking for a denim skirt for months now! I love the 70's vibe to it and how it brings the convenience of denim to a cute skirt. Denim can go with anything no matter what form it's in! Styling this piece was a little tricky at first because honestly I haven't really seen myself in a denim skirt since middle school, when those denim mini skirts were a thing. I tried it with so many tops and realized that maintaining the 70's vibe through out the entire outfit really helped. That is how I chose this shoulder cut-out top. I love the way the cut outs look on me and the color works so well against my skin tone. I always get compliments on this top because the cut outs instantly make it look high fashion.

Once I figured that out, I needed a belt. I felt the skirt on its own wasn't enough, and the band of the skirt was a little loose. Now, I know most don't like mixing black and browns, but I think it is totally okay as long as it is done right! The brown of the belt is a light shade that works well against the denim and not dark enough to clash with my black tights.  Plus, it was a little chilly! If you've been reading my blog for a while you would know that these black booties are practically the only shoe I wear. They amp up any outfit and add some length with the heel!

Alma's Approach: There are different lengths and types of denim skirts, so find the one that works best for you. When you do, don't be afraid to think outside the box and pair the skirt with tops that have a different texture! Any top with a unique feature to it  could work as well!

Fur Please

I have fallen in love with the faux fur vest trend this season, and I'm going to take full advantage of it before it starts warming up. Contrary to what you would think, this thing can keep a girl warm. It's also a lot more versatile than I thought. Today I paired it with my cream knit sweater, and yes I wore it again. It is the perfect sweater after all. I loved how cozy it felt and the sweater was dark enough for the white fur to shine through. To top of the look, I had to add my maroon floppy hat I got from Japan! I felt like a happy mob wife and let's face it, don't we all want to be as glamorous as they are? Last but not least, a pair of riding boots could never go wrong. This pair by Liz Claiborne is the perfect shade of brown to compliment the cream color of my sweater. This is probably one of my favorite winter outfits and I was a little hesitant to walk out of the house at first. Although, I reminded myself I put this outfit together for a reason and it seemed others around San Antonio liked it too!

Alma's Approach: I have been digging lipsticks lately and the berry color I am wearing goes perfectly with my hat! Sometimes it's okay to go daring with one feature on the face with a daring outfit, as long as it correlates to the outfit.

I can't believe 2016 is here already! It feels like 2015 just flew by especially since I am getting ready to finish my last semester of college ever. I have learned so much in the past year from my position as Panhellenic president, from my amazing adviser, from my loving friends and family. This year, as all years will, has had its tough times and I have gotten through them. That will never change and I can only grow stronger from them. But before I get episodic, I would like to share my big takeaway from 2015. This year has definitely been the year of friendship. I never realized how many special people I have in my life and I truly have grown such an appreciation for them. Growing up I never had a sense of home because I always thought it was about the location. Home is never about where you are, it's about who you decide to surround yourself with. I think I have surrounded myself with some pretty amazing people. I just want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done for me. I cannot wait to spend another year with you all.

Now onto the resolutions! I decided to focus on a couple and make them attainable. Here we go!

1. Maintain my blog! I love blogging and now that I have a lot more free time on my hands that is what I will be focusing on. Fashion is what I love and I want to make a career out of it.

2. Start my YouTube channel back up! I've realized after researching for months that I need to put myself and my skills out there on all my platforms. Having videos along with my blog posts adds that triple threat of writing, photos and videos.

3. With my new found free time, I would like to spend more time with my friends. I didn't really get to hang out with them as often as I wanted to this past year, so I better get a move on.

Alma's Approach: Whatever your resolutions are or if you don't have any, have a wonderful new year. Make the best of it and appreciate every bit of it.
